Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Goblin Hill products different?

Everything is made in small batches with carefully chosen ingredients and tested formulations. No premade bases, no filler oils, no shortcuts. You’re supporting true handcrafted quality, not mass production.

Why do you use tallow in skincare?

Tallow has a long history in skincare. Its fatty acid profile is very similar to our own skin, which makes it deeply moisturizing and especially helpful for dry or sensitive skin. The tallow used here is responsibly sourced and rendered until it’s smooth and neutral in scent.

Where do your herbs come from?

Many of the botanicals are grown or wild-foraged locally in North Mississippi using sustainable harvesting practices. When an herb can’t be grown or responsibly foraged, it’s purchased from trusted suppliers who prioritize quality, organic growing methods, and transparency.

Do you use essential oils or fragrance oils?

Both are used, depending on the purpose and safety needs of each product:

  • Balms, salves, and facial products: Only essential oils (if scented at all).
  • Lotions, foaming soaps, and candles: Clean fragrance oils that are phthalate-free and paraben-free.

Essential oils can be strong or irritating if overused, while fragrance oils allow for consistent, layered scents. Each product is formulated for both enjoyment and comfort.

Why do you use coconut–apricot wax in your candles?

Coconut–apricot wax burns cleanly and slowly, with a smooth finish and excellent scent throw. It produces less soot than many common waxes and holds fragrance beautifully. It costs more, but the quality is worth it.

Why are your prices higher than some other brands?

Several factors go into pricing:

  • High-quality ingredients
  • Small-batch craftsmanship
  • Time spent testing formulas
  • Seasonal and foraged botanicals

The goal is fair pricing for the work and materials involved, not racing to the lowest number.

Are your products natural?

Many ingredients are natural or naturally derived. Some products require preservatives for safety, especially water-based products. In those cases, gentle and effective preservatives are used in the correct amounts.

Are your products seasonal?

Some items rely on harvest cycles or limited availability. That means certain products may only appear once a year or in small batches. If you find a favorite, it may be wise to stock up.

Do you take custom or bulk orders?

Custom and bulk orders may be available depending on timeline, product type, and season. These may include event favors, wholesale, or special runs. Reach out to inquire.

Do you test on animals?

No. Products are tested on willing humans only.

Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?

Many are formulated with gentle ingredients, but every person’s skin is unique. Patch testing is recommended, especially for sensitive or reactive skin.

How should I store my products?
  • Skincare: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sun.
  • Candles: Avoid extreme heat (especially cars in summer).
  • Teas & herbs: Airtight, cool, and dry.
What is your return policy?

Due to the nature of personal products, returns aren’t typically accepted unless something arrives damaged or there’s a quality issue. If a problem comes up, reach out so it can be made right.

Can I request a restock?

Yes! If enough people request a product, it may come back in a future batch or season.
